Sounds like a combination of Jeff Buckley, John Mayer and The Police, who, collectively had a secret obsession with hard rock and speed metal in their teenage years (I guess that's not possible with the Police, but just work with me here). Performances range from solo acoustic shows to all-out, full band rock shows.
Matt will be appearing on the upcoming Awarestore.com Earsnacks Vol. 7, as well as the Alternative Addiction.com Vol. 7 compilations. A frequent performer at the world-famous Double Door in Chicago, Matt has also performed at colleges and clubs throughout the country. "Standing Eight Count" has been featured on numerous local radio stations including 101.9 The Mix, 104.3 Jack FM, 93.1 WXRT and 105.9 WCKG.
For the purposes of TAXI submissions, Matt is a full time musician, and would welcome the chance to work with those established in the industry to create a long term, mutually-beneficial relationship. Please visit www.matthoffer.com for more info.

Under the Gun
3. Under The Gun
A hundred stories high
How does it feel, when your world breaks down?
When you notice there's a wall between
Where you are and where you want to be
When you're under the gun
Fire away
If there's nowhere to run
Make your own way 'round
It ends tonight
The money's green, but it won't make you complete
Who are you?
What makes you feel,
Who you are and who you want to be?
When you're under the gun
Fire away
If there's no where to run
Make your own way round
Fire away
When you're under the gun
Fire away
If there's nowhere to run
Make your own way round
When you're under the gun
Fire away
If there's nowhere to run
Make your own way round
Undertow
5. Undertow
Angel, beauty lay next to me
I thought I made you up again
Somewhere inside my head
You're so beautiful
Drunken whispers in my ear
Your promises were so unclear
Live for the moment, if only for this moment
These simple pleasures pass me by
Now I lay, in bed with you, perfect stranger
Could you be the one that I've been hoping for
The undertow that pulls me away
I thought I made you up again
Inhibitions came unbound
We slipped away without a sound
I could tell by the way you touched me you're so rich in
Mystery my dear
Now I lay, in bed with you, perfect stranger
Could you be the one that I've been hoping for
The undertow that pulls me away
I thought I'd never find you here
But now I've found the strength to carry on
Carry on
In bed with you, perfect stranger
Could you be the one that I've been hoping for
The undertow that pulls me away
I thought I made you up again
Never Comfortable
Wax paper sticks to my fingers
And the leaves in between have all broken and withered
But I, kept everything that you gave me
Even the envelopes that came with your letters
And it's still such a mystery how it came to be
It seems I ended right where you began
Oh this life's so strange,
why do we rearrange everything
for a poisoned love?
From the first time you drew me in
No, I never felt comfortable, and I
Was waiting for the axe to fall
No I never felt comfortable
No there's not much of you to remember
And the year that has passed seemed to vanish like vapor
I guess you filled your passing need
With someone too eager to please
I was dropped with a sucker punch
From the first time you drew me in
No I never felt comfortable, and I
Just waited for the axe to fall
No, I never felt comfortable
Wax paper sticks to my fingers
And the leaves in between have all broken and withered
But I kept everything that you gave me
Still you gave me nothing at all
From the first time you drew me in
No, I never felt comfortable, and I
Was waiting for the axe to fall
No, I never felt comfortable
With you
Everything Went Wrong
4. Everything Went Wrong
I'm angry, I'm angry at the world
Once you take a look inside, you know you won't be staying here too long
And don't you stay too long
You were standing ringside
Inside a twisted dream
Taken by a blindside
That brings me to my knees
I'm taken, I'm taken with the warmth
Of knowing what it's like to never win or lose
The status quo's all right
You were standing ringside
Inside a twisted dream
Taken by blindside
That brings me to my knees
Yeah it brings me to my knees
Everything Went Wrong today
Everything Went Wrong
Everything Went Wrong today
Everything
Bridge
And it brings me to my knees
Yeah it brings me to my knees
And it brings me to my knees
Everything Went Wrong today
Everything Went Wrong
Everything Went Wrong today
Everything
Standing Eight Count
Another night alone
Lie awake at night and pray
Can't pick up the phone to call anyone
It's such a crying shame
A bullet in the chamber that could end this game
I'm too calloused to trust anyone
I'm in my room and I won't see you
By the way, I'm sorry if I don't come around
Around for you
An endless blanket stare and I
Don't care where we go tonight
cause anywhere I go, I feel the same
I'm in my room and I won't see you today
By the way I'm sorry if I don't come around
This bitter mood, no it just won't leave me today
It feels like I'm walking through life after a standing eight count
It's feeling so wrong that I
Couldn't be out there with you
I gave it my all, I just didn't pull through
There's a weight I can't describe
It bleeds me out tonight
Maybe it's why, I'm stuck in my room
Another night alone
Lie awake at night and pray
Can't pick up the phone, to call anyone
I'm in my room and I won't see you today
By the way I'm sorry if I don't come around
This bitter mood, no, it just won't leave me today
It feels like I'm walking through life after a standing eight count
