Craig’s foray into the music world began Boulder, CO. After five years with the group Orphan Tears, a band who’s unique sound and finely crafted songs filled clubs and drew tremendous praise, Maierhofer decided to go the solo route. Since then, his introspective songwriting has exploded with hooks and melodies. His first solo release, “49 Floors,” is a maturely written collection of songs that can best be described as “folk alterna-pop.” Produced by Joe Bonadio, who has worked with a variety of artists ranging from Martin Sexton to Susan Todeschi to Avril Lavigne, the album features a variety of talented musicians including Bonadio, David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel), Larry Saltzman (Edie Brickell), as well as ex-Orphan Tears member Rob Pearson and local vocalist Rebecca Folsom. The result is a wonderfully produced and performed album of soaring melodies and insightful lyrics, which has been well received by listeners and writers alike.
