Story Behind The Song
I met this bartender while living in Dallas, and she looked very haggered.....as if life had been pretty hard on her and it was taking it's toll. She looked as though she was around 50 years old, but she told me she was 36. Having spent time in the bar business, I figured I could pretty much tell her story without actually knowing any of it.
Song Description
A lovely, dreamy melody in this ballad about a woman, Emily, who has a bartender far longer than she ever thought she'd be. The music floats, as does the vocal melody into a memorable chorus hook.

Lyrics
Emily
words and music by craig maierhofer
Verse 1
Emily has changed since she was younger
She?s taken on a line or two
She doesn?t believe that she?s older
And when she gets home in the mornin?
What she thought she was going to do
She only sees through the corner
Of her eye
Chorus
It doesn?t mean much
Ever to you when you fade away
Just like yesterday
Well it?s comin? back to you
But baby you?re runnin? away
Verse 2
Emily can talk a story
And fill it up with circumstance
All of the places she?s been
She tells me Jose?s been a bit rude to her
But sometimes she?ll still take a chance
Because down under he?s a friend
To you and me
CHORUS
Verse 3
I can see that dream in her eye
It?s faded, but it still shows a bit
Of a worn out destination
Like a road map she refused
She could have gotten a hold of it
If she only showed a little patience
And let it come
CHORUS
