Roy,

What is the meaning of "All-in" in the context of licensing opportunities?

Thanks,

Dennis, Thanks for the good question. "All-in" means that the supervisor wants only songs where a "one-stop" deal can be made. In some cases, a writer may own the publishing and a label may own the recording rights. Most of our members who submit do own both publishing and recording rights so this is usually not the case. When a supervisor is asking for "All-in", they simply don't want to negotiate with multiple rights holders on one song.....Hope this helps, Roy.....Sorry for the delay in my response, I have been out of the office.

Ahhh...thanks Roy! I had the classic (bad) visions of "gimme yer song, I own it now". The reality is much nicer than the nightmare.

Hi Roy,

Just thought I'd let you know that I/we are having a lot of fun with this whole process, this is a great site! Additionally, could you tell me what the "All-in" thing means in the context of submission opportunites.

Thank you very much,

Dennis (lars mars)

Hi Roy,
Being a new member, I'd like to thank you and everyone at Broadjam for being so responsive to a "new guy's" bumps along the way. Additionally, I have a question...why are Closing Dates on Licensing submissions such a moving target? When I hustle to meet a deadline, they are invariably pushed out another week or so. What is the control over the dates? Who decides?

Thanks in advance,

Dennis Marth of Lars Mars

Lars, Thanks for the question. There could be numerous reasons for this, film date pushed back, additional content is needed, etc.....Like any project, it's probably the guy in charge saying we need more time.....With that said, it doesn't hurt to get in as early as possible.....Hope this helps, Roy
