Hi Roy,
I've been with Broadjam for a while now and have submitted to many opportunities (in vain alas!). I've been living in France, writing and playing and now I'm back in Australia and today I'm trying to sort entries for the International Songwriting Competition. I have a catalogue of over 200 songs and I want to maybe lodge 21 songs. Big problem with someone like me is identifying what genre the songs fall into. I notice the submission page has changed and we now nominate the songs to enter in the very first steps. I guess the question is "if I enter a song in say the 'blues' category and the judges don't feel it is blues, does that automatically wipe out a song that might have stood a chance in another category? At $US35, the ISC is very expensive and with 21 songs at total $735 that's a big cost if I get it wrong. As an adjunct to this question, is there any vehicle, contest or
procedure within Broadjam that allows a singer/songwriter to be judged across a sample catalogue? Many thanks. Chris (CJ) Smith

CJ, Thanks for the thoughtful note. I will ask our contest manager to respond. Note that he may have to contact the ISC staff for an answer, as this is their contest. We have worked with them for years and they are one of the best contests around. Good people as well......The Broadjam 6-Pack is a very cost effective competition at $5 an entry for Primo members. Look in your left hand navigation on Bjam and click on it. It is songwriter, not a song, competition. There are six categories and the best overall writer wins. Check it out and let me know what you think.....Roy

Hi CJ,
This is Mike Huberty from Broadjam Artist Services. According to the ISC rules, you can submit one song to more than one category (they're considered unique entries and you have to pay for each entry) If you enter a single tune into more than one category, then what happens to the song in one category has no effect on the other.

Good luck and I second the recommendation of the Six-Pack, it's our signature contest and the prizes this year are really exciting.

Hi CJ, I really like the song "The Sunday Song". It reminds me of a song I wrote but never recorded about a man dying and looking back on his life. I need to dig that out. There are some really cool parts to that song. I dig it man. Tone of voice really suits the guitar. --Robert

Thanks Roy & Mike. Looks like I'll just have to take my chances with the genre issues on ISC.
