Carlene, Love One Another Indeed! Beautiful Song, Instrumentation, Vocal And Performance Which From The Credits Appears That It Is All You! ... Best Wishes For Wherever Faith, Life And The Music May Lead You ... J Nelson K
Hi Carlene! I really love your style of folk music, and your lyrics really take the listener back in time! You have a great voice, and your vibrato adds a unique beauty to your songs. I am glad I discovered your music! :)
Thank you, Darius!
as a matter of fact!--i was telling a friend of mine yesterday of you and your music and i was applauding you and his wife for being /woodstock/survivors---yee haw!--boy--that has been a long time ago--see ya--joe.
I haven't been ignoring you, just don't get out here very often!
that's OK i still think of you once in awhile--peace--joe
hey carlene--i was down in fort meyers a few day ago-i thought of you--one of my best friends committed suicide last summer--i was in shock and really bummed out--we gotta just keep going forward and deal with the grief---your song touched me--i don't want to be who i am/your friend--joe.
Oh so sorry about your friend. One of mine did the same thing --- I think it was last year. I Don't Want to Be Who I Am actually happened to the daughter of the co-writer o the song. Really sad. What was your friend's name? Not Larry, by any chance?
no,it was not larry--it was bobby---over in cleveland florida--sure miss that old boy!--he was the best mechanic in the whole state of florida--cheers--joe
Carlene. Great job on I don't Want to Be who I am! We cannot escape Death or ourselves. But we can still make Friends who will love us when we cannot love ourselves. Sending you a Friend request to cover the loss. - St. Nick
Thank you, Nick. Nice message and much appreciated.

hey carlene--just stopped by your place here for a minute to say--hey!!!--hope all is well with yoy--joe--i always liked that picture of you and i want you to put that woodstock ticket in your will to me--cheers--joe
I just listened to Jesus Still Walks the Broken Road. Really nice! You should be able to get that on the charts somehow. It's great.
Thanks Carlene, it seems to be one that only songwriters and church congregations appreciate....I think Jesus likes it so it's all good.
Hi, Thanks for the review of Forever Here. I'd like to hear it with a full band behind it someday, too! I love your song with the banjo and the dog barking. Can I have that band? Carlene
Sure , Come on down to NJ ;) That banjo player is Bill Turner from Bill Haley and The Comets and the dog just kind of hangs around the Studio !
Actually I'm FROM New Jersey but now live in Naples, Florida. How cool it would have been to work with Bill Turner. I'm a big fan of Bill Haley and the Comets. You, too. Carlene
Bill Turner is like my next door neighbor, We do a lot of shows together. Did you listen to the track Believe me ? That track has Soozie Tyrell from Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band playing Fiddle.
Thanks for the review. Thoroughness and suggestions much appreciated. I like your music - beautiful voice!
You are too kind. I see you have quite the library of songs. I will give a listen soon. Thanks & God Bless!
HeY Carlene - thanks for the nice review of my song "Two Step Plan" - much appreciated!
Thanks very much for your thorough review of Spring Rain. I really appreciate the constructive comments. I am new at songwriting and I get a lot of comments about my songs being listed in the wrong genre. I'm really a folk singer at heart (and experience), so you nailed that one, even though I tried to sing it country. I tried to listen to your music but Broadjam seems to be having technical difficulties. Will try again later. Thanks again. Carlene
Thanks for the review. I really appreciate it when people who know what they are doing make constructive comments. Thank you! Carlene Thissen
Thank you. I wish you the best of luck with your music. It's what we live for.
Mary lyn, I think this site has a lot of potential. There are a lot of little things you have to learn about how to use it, but I highly recommend that you learn it. Your music is really good and I love your voice. Check me out if you get a chance, Carlene Thissen.
Hi, I can't find I'll Tell God you said Hi on your site, here. Is it here and I can't see it?
I've got "I'll Tell God You Said Hi" out there. By the way I listened to "Spring Rain". Nice story and nice tune! --Dan
Hi Kate, Your storytelling is almost as beautiful as your voice.
Thanks for your sweet and encouraging words. I am assuming you are a FL girl who lives near Immokalee? Have you heard that song "girl from immokalee?" Can I please have your email address & put you on my mailing list. That way when i come to your area to do a concert, you will hear about it. Let me know. MrsKate@MrsKate.com
Joe, love your comments but constructive criticism is really good, too. BUT would you do me a favor and go to www.reverbnation.com and become a fan? And tell others? It's a "happening" site and I think it's a good place to be, in addition to Broadjam, of course.
Thanks for the review of Far From Memphis. Just goes to show you, you can take the girl out of the folk music, but you can't take the folk music out of the girl!
you have a great voice.
hey carlen/i think as long as i have one of your songs on my top song play list,i can find you-sure/joe.
Hi Joe, It looks as if when we're "connected," that I see all your correspondence on your wall. Is there a way to "disconnect" and still stay in touch? Have a good day, Carlene
Hi, Thanks for the review and especially the Baez reference. Probably obvious that I sang everything she ever did, from 1963 to early 1970s. I even managed to develop the same vibrato, which some people don't like! Appreciate the kind words.
Wow -- I just skimmed through your website and it sounds like you actually get to make your living doing music. I'm envious! Also, what a beautiful picture, clear skin, very alive, all matches your voice. I hope to meet you someday.
Where do you live, Carlene, and what is your email address? I'd like to meet you, too! I would love to put you on my mailing list. Makes you eligible for my free CD contests and if I do a concert in your area, you will hear about it. Hope to hear from you soon! Mrs. Kate PS you can email me at MrsKate@MrsKate.com
I love singing at festivals, too, even though I haven't done it yet! Is there a master list somewhere that tells when they are coming up and how you get to be on their stage?
Yes there are festival websites. If you google it you can find it. I can't remember right offhand but USAFestivals.com or something like that. The best way is to keep your eye on the newspapers for local festivals. By the time you read about it, they have probably already booked for this year, but find out who is in charge and when they do the booking, and contact them for the next year. Hope this helps! Mrs. Kate PS Often festival performance fees are low but they are great exposure and often lead to other gigs. Also they look good on your resume!
clouds above the rain will be a masterpiece, when you get done with it,i am listening to the music again, because i thought it was so good/joe.
Thanks for the review, Carlene. Listened to some of your material. Like it a lot. blessings...-b-
Hello Carlene, thanks for the sweet review on Faithful Servant. You are right, I do sound like I am singing to kids, even when I write/perform for adults, people say I have a childlike presentation....just the way God made me. May He bless you, my friend! Mrs. Kate www.MrsKate.com
Can you give me your real email? You can send it direct to me. I can't load the proposed "Dad's song" music onto Broadjam without a hassle from my husband, who is taking care of all the technical stuff. But I could email an MP3, if that would be OK. I'm at email@example.com Thanks in advance.
