Merry Christmas Smoking Joe,

Thanks for the fine, fine, fine review of my song, "I Come From Chicago". I wrote it back in 1964 and it became a "standard with some blues bands in CHicago". It is unique, in as much as it has a "historical twist" to it. It comes from my classic-rock-retro-blues album, "Band In The Basement".

Anyway, my good buddy, have a great Christmas and a healthy, prosperous and adventuresome New Year!

Best,

Chet Nichols

Hey Jeff,

"Spot on" review of the instrumental version of my classic rock song, "Stay Away". The version you reviewed just had the vocals "muted" and I use this version for TV/Film/Media submissions. Of course, the full-up song has a male vocal and some bad-boy lyrics.

I wrote "Stay Away" in 1963 for my high-school rock band. We did have covers and half my originals which was kinda rare back then.

These songs kinda faded away into the back of my catalogue until an old friend of mine was diagnosed with ALS. One of his wishes was to hear those old songs again. I was in the middle of working on a new CD and stopped and gathered up 12 of those older tunes and re-recorded them and tried to pay strict attention to detail with the sounds, drums.....etc ....and keep the 60's feel to it. From what people have told me....I seemed to have done a good job.

Once, I had finished the album, I burned the first copy, printed the CD art and ran it over to my buddy and gave it to me. BY that time, he very close to passing away. It was the last time I saw him....a sad story, but, all things considered....I was able to fulfill his wish.

Anyway, I thought you might like the story.....

That said, I hope you have a great New Year!

Best,

Chet
