Thank-you so much for the kind words.
Officially started work on my next record titled
I'll keep you posted.
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, this self-taught musician began his career singing on radio commercials at the tender age of sixteen. After cutting his teeth as a songwriter and front man for numerous Boston-area bands, Chip landed in Miami when he hit eighteen, working at every recording studio in town.
A true student of the recording arts, Chip attended the FAME Institute and received certification as an audio engineer. He released the single "Break the Chains"--which he wrote and produced--at the age of nineteen, and after fronting the bands Mystique and Rhyme & Reason, began producing other bands for various major and independent labels.
Not confined to three-minute songs, Chip branched out into the field of writing and producing commercial jingles, taking on such high-profile clients as Subway, the Miami Dolphins, Instabank, Nutraplex, Strax Cosmetic Institute, The Bullet Line, and LTI Airlines.
Recently, Chip has branched out into the television and motion picture industry, handling scoring and sound design duties for Promax Award-winning filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan (for the TV pilot "Breach of Heaven" and feature film "Communication Breakdown").
Despite his work in new areas, Chip remains true to his rock & roll roots, co-writing , co-producing and providing lead vocal tracks for a new album from his band Sunshine Overdrive (a collaboration with Keyboardist Cliff Rawnsley, guitarist Dave Rubenstein. ASIA frontman/ bassist John Payne and CONSPIRACY drummer Jay Schellen). Also, Chip recently completed production on the new self titled EP from Five Pound Fire (recorded at Studio 160 outside of Asheville, North Carolina).
Never one to shy away from a new project, Chip is in the process of building a new facility with Ian Miller (from The Irish Rovers) called Synergy Mastering Studio. Always active, Chip Thompson remains a force in the worlds of songwriting, performing, and producing.
