Born in Romania from an artistic family, Ligia Oancea showed her musical talent from an early age. Trained in a gifted music school in Bucharest from kindergarten to high school, she pursued her dream to become a songwriter artist throughout the years of university, consecrating herself as a well known artist in Romania. Together with Crina Mardare, Ligia is the co-founder of the vocal group Trison and, later, Stereo. Her contagious energy, combined with a husky, sexy at times, nevertheless powerful and penetrating voice made her one of the most interesting artists of her country.

After many successful years of live performances, TV shows, national and international tours as a pop singer, and classical/café pianist, Ligia came to Canada, where she taught piano, voice, music history and theory. Continuing her career as an artist and songwriter, Ligia released her first Canadian CD in 2003, combining English and Rumanian songs of various styles, such as soft rock, light jazz and AC. The CD was aired in Romania at various radio and TV stations in the summer of 2004. In the same summer, she released her dance single Vino, which in Rumanian means Come. The song combines in a unique way Rumanian folklore, rap, Latin and dance.
The Romanian community was very happy to have Ligia among them, inviting her to perform for different events and concerts, such as the Rumanian National Day Concert. Ligia appeared also on Rompost TV, channel M with two of her songs.

Continuing pursuing her dream of becoming a well-known international artist, Ligia is presently working on her second Canadian album of Urban/Latin/Euro folk influences. Her music continues to remain energetic and innovative, thanks to her witty piano playing, her catchy choruses and melodious verses.

In 2006 Ligia won an Honor Award for her song 'Vino" at The Great American Song competition and at the Billboard World Competition. In 2007, she was nominated as a semi-finalist in the ISC (International Songwriting Competition) with her latest Latin/Urban song "Adios".

Curretly Ligia is teaching music and performing in Vancouver BC, as well as being the conductor of the Holy Trinity Rumanian Church Choir,
