Lyrics

Jodi

I used to come home at night the kitchen light was on.
Dinner would be waiting and the warmth of her arms
Well One night I came home it was just a usual day
But the light was not on no one waiting today

Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why'd they take you away from me
I can't go on with out you being close to me close to me
Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why'd they take you away from me
It'll never be the way it used to be used to be

So young and beautiful she had so much to give
It's not fair to lose someone who wanted so much to live
Now all I have is a memory and my heart full of tears
And I know she can't come back to me I thank God for those happy years

Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why's they take you away from me
I can't go on with out you being close to me close to me
Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why'd they take you away from me
It'll never be the way it used to be used to be

Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why's they take you away from me
I can't go on with out you being close to me close to me
Oh Jodi no oh Jodi no why'd they take you away from me
It'll never be the way it used to be used to be .....................

I absolutely love the hook. I was emotionally moved. Vocal strong on hook. I can replay this song.

This is a really sad song about losing a loved one. The first verse provides a good opening to the story, excellent word pictures with dinner waiting on the stove, a warm hug. The vocal is about as passion and emotion-filled as it gets. You can feel the loneliness in the vocalist's voice. Background vocals augment this.

This is a retro sound for sure, very 70s pop radio in the vein of "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro. The songwriting is simple, nice vocal and the modest piano is just right. If only the recording quality matched!
