Started playing in rock bands in the 60's, and started writing music in the 70's. Recorded first album "Honky Tonk Amnesia" in 1978 under the nick name Spanky. Hired a back up band named The Honolulu Doggs in 1979. Played the San Francisco club circuit as Spank and The Honolulu Doggs. Played The Old Waldorf with John Lee Hooker, Coke Escovido, Luther Tucker, Mississippi Johnny Waters, Freddy Roulette and Geno Skaggs. Keystones Berkeley and Palo Alto opening for Greg Kihn and John Lee Hooker. The Rio Theater opening for Bo Diddley.
After Spank and the Honolulu Doggs split up, played all the blues clubs on Grant Street in San Francisco, for a year or so, with Paul Wood, Richard Treece , Freddy Roulette, Luther Tucker, Marin Red, Geno Skaggs, Lisa Kindred and many more.
Formed The Bootleggers in 1983 and played every honky tonk in California and some of Nevadas too.
Stopped playing in 1987 till 2006.
Now back and glad of it.

The players on the project are Johnny Gunn, Brad Barth from the band Spiralarms, Doug Folsom from Bleed The Day, Kenny Zimmerman, Richard Segovia and all the members of the Passion Pirates including Ira Walker, T.J. Bergren, Geoff Wilcox and David Kaffenitti formerly the "Viv Savage" character from the Spinal Tapp movies. Began working professionally again in 2006. Recorded The Wolftickets album, Produced by Ira Walker & Johnny Gunn, at Audio Voyage in Livermore, CA., and mastered at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA. Played the Fat Cat Modesto opening for Frank Hanna with Johnny Gunn December 2006. Joined the Band The Passion Pirates January 2007. The Passion Pirates are also the back up band for the Kurt Crasper shows.
Playing The Hells Angels Anniversary Extravaganza ..... Oakland Chapter celebrates 50 years along with Richmond Chapters 45th. Venue: Historic Sweet's Ballroom, Oakland CA. on March 30th 2007.
