Clarinetist Gary Dranch, holds a DMA in performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializes in contemporary music. He attended The Eastman School of Music where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance. He subsequently obtained his Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dranch performs with the Greenwich Village Orchestra among others. He has given recitals in the Bruno Walter Auditorium, Merkin Hall (N.Y. debut in 1990), Donnell Library, 'The Atrium' at CitiCorp Center, and Loeb Center at New York University. Dr. Dranch appeared as soloist with several New York ensembles, South America and Eastern Europe. Dranch has dedicated much of his career to expanding the clarinet repertoire, and has commissioned or had works written for him by such composers as Elliott Schwartz, Daniel Wolff, Peter Hazzard and John Bavicchi.

Gary Dranch gave a recital at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the Lincoln Center Library on April 1, 2012 and November 23, 2013. He was soloist with the Sibiu Philharmonic in November 2012 where he performed the Spohr Clarinet Concerto No.4. On April 20, 2014, he performs a double clarinet concerto he commissioned from composer Douglas Anderson, entitled "Spirit Guide." Performed by the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, it is at the Brooklyn Museum, with Nick Armstrong, conductor.
