A Country Americana blend of Coffee House and Cowboy.

It's a start...

In 2006, The Academy of Texas Music honored Jeff Posey's debut album POCKETFUL with two nominations; ALBUM OF THE YEAR and Producer of the Year, John M. Greenberg. In May, a very deserving Greenberg was named The Texas Music Award's Producer of the Year for his effort on POCKETFUL!! Not a bad start for a debut independent album and for a songwriter making the move to singer/songwriter.

Though his recording career is in it's infancy, Posey has been honing the craft of songwriting for well over a decade. As a writer his honest, poignant lyrics and vivid storytelling have already inspired some lofty comparisons and earned high praise from peers and critics. He is a three-time finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival's "New Folk Competition" and has quietly produced an impressive collection of songs recorded and performed by other talented, independent artists.

Posey's co-writes have been featured on each critically praised release from independent singer/songwriter/producer John M. Greenberg (Johnny Gringo), two albums by Oklahoma "red dirt" favorite The Panhandlers, Thomas Michael Riley's latest "Cowboy Church", and singer/songwriter/novelist Mike Blakely's album "Careless Moonlight".

With his debut CD Posey has finally given a new voice to his songs. One that is expectedly honest and real...his own. The album is certainly worthy of its accolades as it moves deftly from the rousing snare drum that kicks off the album with the toe-tappin', steel and fiddle laden, radio-friendly (in a good way) "Cross the Colorado" to the pure, acoustic campfire closer "Why Cowboys Pray".

As a vocalist, Posey offers an authentic, subtle rasp and not a hint of trumped-up-twang. The production and arrangements show a keen sense of his talents and his limitations. But more importantly, the whole of the project shows a deep understanding that each song has something to say...and every word counts.

If you like stories. If you're one of those that listens to the words. If you appreciate the craft of songwriting and prefer lyrics that make you think, lyrics that aren't cliché, this album is for you. Pocketful is an acoustic blend of traditional country, folk and Americana best described as Texas Music, but Posey's style is all his own.
