It really began when I listened to Buddy Holly and Elvis. I first took the stage at five when I competed in a local radio show where I sang "Loose Talk" by Freddy Hart. Through the years my influences varied from Roy Orbison to the Beatles to all the commercial music in the sixties and seventies. My style today is rooted in Allman Brothers as far as the music is concerned the but the lyrics are all mine.
I wrote my first song at 12 when I collaberated with my uncle, Ron Gillaspy, once a premier player in the Bakersfield Sound of the early 60's. I left the actual pursuit of music in 1983 giving way to television and then radio sports. But I always kept writing. So I am here today, still performing and still showing off but in a good way. Look for a new CD coming soon from the Woodman. It will be my chance to show the audience what goes on inside the mind of a songwriter. Hope you enjoy the music.
