Volvelle is the solo project of Shawn Jenkins. Shawn is a completely self taught musician. He began playing the guitar at the age of 12, and over the years the interest in one instrument led to picking up bass, keyboards, and other various instruments along the way. In the past 16 years Shawn has played in an array of bands around the Springfield, OH music scene, most recent of which was his band "Darkwright" ( www.myspace.com/darkwrightmusic ) When Darkwright broke up, Shawn and Darkwright vocalist Tony Molla continued making music under the "Darkwright" name. Eventually, in an ongoing desire to satisfy an appetite for making diverse music with no boundaries, Shawn decided to set off in a venture to do music on his own, and thus Volvelle was born. Volvelle's first album, "The Circle of the Tide" (2008 ), covers a variety of music styles ranging from metal and rock, to blues and bluegrass with songs like, "Harcore Hillbilly" and "Self Respect". Being one who is constantly creating new material, Shawn then released a second Volvelle album in 2009, titled "When the Unknown Comes Around". The sophomore album picks up right where the previous one left off. The featured songs "Jesse James" "Lost Cause" and "A Strange Wind Blows Tonight" set the stage of the diverse lineup of its songs. With two albums now under his wing, Shawn continues to push his project "Volvelle" to wherever the music takes it. An ongoing desire to do something different is what keeps music fresh. That is the ultimate goal of Volvelle, and as long as that concept rings true, as it always has, there will be much to come.
