First Through the Door

As a native born son of Irish immigrants, the story of Ellis Island has always meant a great deal to me. On January 1, 1892, a young girl from County Cork, Ireland ???? named Annie Moore, at the tender age of just 13, arrived in New York Harbor with her two younger brothers and became the very first immigrant ever processed through Ellis Island. Like millions who followed, she came to America seeking the chance for a better life.
