Tri Point Paradox is a genre-busting group based in Lawrence, Kansas. After recently releasing their third album, Pictures of a Journey Home, TPP has been playing throughout the Midwest, adding new markets and growing their fan base.

Trying to describe TPP is in itself a paradox. Mixing funk, jazz, rock and island-inspired sounds has led their studio efforts and live shows to become collections of tracks, that are themselves musical journeys, often bringing the listener throughout several decades and regions of influences. Lawrence.com's Richard Gintowt says "TPP is a Dave Matthews/Jack Johnson/Phish hybrid with deft musicianship and just enough jazzy detours." It's for this very reason that TPP has earned a reputation as a band one has to see live.

TPP is currently increasing its exposure by placing music online at CD Baby, iTunes, indie911, newartistradio.net, and many others. They are currently working on producing a Live Album, to be released this Winter.

Band Bio

Tri Point Paradox is a genre-busting group of 6 artistic musicians based in Lawrence, Kansas. After recently releasing their third album, Pictures of a Journey Home, Tri Point Paradox has been playing throughout the Midwest, adding new markets and growing their fan base.

Trying to describe Tri Point Paradox is in itself a paradox. Mixing funk, jazz, rock and island-inspired sounds has led their studio efforts and live shows to become collections of tracks, that are themselves musical journeys, often bringing the listener throughout several decades and regions of influences.

Demonstrating their wide range of "roots-based" influences, Tri Point Paradox often incorporates soulful vocals with African rhythms and reggae beats. Led by lead singer Mike Shull's inspired lyrics and smoke-stained vocals, Jamil Mahmood's blues-inspired guitar riffs, and Pat King's solid bass lines, the "Appalachian-island" sound adds an invigorating, yet earthy element to the Tri Point style.

Rounding out the TPP sound, Timothy Wong on violin and Hank Rischar on keyboards add artistic depth, while Ted Myers' tight-drumming keeps the band on track through reggae, hip-hop, and jazzy rhythms.

And with a reputation for adding guest musicians to their live performances, TPP is constantly adapting and adding to their arsenal of styles and sounds, including hip-hop and R&B. It's for this very reason that Tri Point Paradox has earned a reputation as a band one has to see live.
