Bio

With an upbeat, amiable presence and a penchant for funky beats and campfire sing-a-longs, Trevor Ras can’t help but bring his transparent passion for music to the stage with him every night. Captivating melodies meld with fiery, vocals, soulful saxophone and thoughtful lyrics giving him a unique style that lands somewhere between Van Morrison, Jack Johnson, Matchbox 20 and James Taylor.

Currently in the studio working on his debut solo record, Trevor is no stranger to the music industry. As a musician he’s traversed the corrugated landscape of broken down band vans, sold out shows and empty roadhouses. Originally from Seattle, he spent most of his formative musical years based in Portland as a sideman touring up and down the I-5 corridor with regional acts like Big Time Rosie and Jesus Presley. In 2001 he and guiarist/vocalist Michael Herrman founded and co-fronted a high-powered funk rock project called Life After Liftoff that toured the Northwest club and college circuit heavily to critical acclaim. Four drummers, two bass players and zero studio albums later, the band’s engines sputtered and LAL fell to earth.

All the while, Trevor had been fast at work running a small but respected publicity/promotion/production company called Big Wheel Productions. And while his NW music education had taught him the basics of the biz, he knew deep down it was time to move on. As the streetlamps of Portland began to dim, the bright lights of L.A. came calling. Offered a job at a leading public relations firm in Hollywood, Trevor jumped at the chance and headed south.

Having a day job & following celebrities around posh Hollywood parties, however, is not all its cracked up to be. The grit of the underground music scene, and his dream of cultivating a career as a solo artist beckoned him back to the stage. He began playing acoustic shows in small clubs around L.A. and in March of 2005 collided with longtime friend and former Big Time Rosie cohort Adam Gershon. Drummer, songwriter and upcoming producer, Adam proved to be the just advocate he needed. By summer they had begun recording Trevor’s debut album at Adam’s small studio, called Even Audio, in West L.A.

Currently almost half the record is in the can and Trevor Ras has already conjured up a 3-song demo for discerning ears. The full album is slated for completion by the New Year, and while Trevor and his team ramp up the search for bandmates, label interest and how to shake the day job, he is playing dates up and down the West Coast from L.A. to Portland and Seattle.
