CHICAGO - On Revelation Sunday, their third full-length CD, The Steepwater Band takes advantage of their musical depth and diversity by combining their influences, distinctive songwriting, and a rootsy intensity to create their own brand of classic-sounding edgy rock.

The Chicago-bred trio's organic, hard-driving synthesis of gutsy hard rock, gritty Delta blues, soulful backwoods boogie and down-home psychedelia, coupled with the frenzied power of their live performances, has won over a fiercely loyal fan base.

On a shoestring budget, the band produced a gem of an album thats been receiving glowing reviews and attracting industry attention. A U.K.-based record label, Evangeline Recordings, has released Revelation Sunday throughout Europe and a Los Angeles-based publishing company is representing the album for additional opportunities. Not bad for a disc that sprang to life from recording sessions that took place in a beach house on Lake Michigan with the drummer’s brother and the band’s bass player fulfilling the roles of recording engineers.

Revelation Sunday clearly draws the roadmap of the band's musical direction. The album is laced with roots-rockers like "Collision," "Steel Sky," and "Indiana Line." There's a particularly seductive composition of Indian/Kashmirian flavor called "Dance Me a Number," an inflection of pop sensibility on "Halo," and a beautifully melodic turn with "A Lot of Love Around."

The other five songs, including the backwoods Delta blues tune "Slow Train Drag" and the intense, lengthy guitar jam on the eight minute-plus "Baby, You're on Your Own," add more meat to the sound of a band that's making its statement in the roots-rock/Americana movement.

~ BACKGROUND INFO
The band has played together since their teens in various rock and blues combos. The three musicians united to form The Steepwater Band, taking their name from a cargo ship guitarist/vocalist Jeff Massey spotted on Lake Michigan.

The young trio quickly found their own voice, progressing from covering Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and John Lee Hooker songs to writing and performing their own compelling originals. From the beginning, they have been a relentless performing unit and expanding their touring base throughout the Midwest and beyond.

The band is returning to Europe for a ten-day tour in July 2007. They made their European debut in 2005, performing at the Azkena Rock Festival, and subsequently headlined three sold-out shows in Madrid, Bilbao, and Barcelona in September 2006.

They've shared bills with acts as diverse as the Drive-by Truckers, Buddy Guy, Wilco, Cheap Trick, Gov't Mule, Umphrey's McGee, the Doobie Brothers, Deep Purple, and Bon Jovi, among many others.

The creative electricity and contagious energy of the band is evident in their live performances, as their shows have been well-received by critics and fans alike. It's the unpretentious devotion to their music, and their commitment to achieving their musical goals without compromising the integrity of their musical vision, that makes The Steepwater Band such a refreshing discovery.
