A Band so Evil the Devil himself spat them back out. And we like our mommy's.....
The Gusto was formed in December 2006 by long time friends; Summertime Andy Roemer, Jake Boyardi, and Grizz, along with their new found comrade, Patt Fink. The fearsome foursome quickly became a powerhouse of rock, touring the country and releasing and EP called Culture and Shit as well as the full length The Way it is on the local Madison record label, Crustacean Records. On the road the band has repeatedly traveled most of the country as well as played a number of independent music festivals including South by South West and the Warped Tour. The choice of the name was easy. To their audience, it was what they would give; to them it was what they would go for; and it was what their music would always be played with. Unanimously, the name of the band was decided to be The Gusto.

The Origin of The Gusto

The Gusto was formed in December 2006 by long time friends; Summertime Andy Roemer, Jake Boyardi, and Grizz, along with their new found comrade, Patt Fink. The fearsome foursome quickly became a powerhouse of rock, touring the country and releasing and EP called Culture and Shit as well as the full length The Way it is on the local Madison record label, Crustacean Records. On the road the band has repeatedly traveled most of the country as well as played a number of independent music festivals including South by South West and the Warped Tour. The early history of the band has been one of constant and expeditious escalation.
The story of The Gusto starts with three friends in high school. Jake, Andy, and Grizz. The threesome started the pop punk group Koji. Grizz played bass guitar, Jake played rhythm as well as the occasional lead, and Andy played drums. Jake and Grizz also shared the part of lead vocals with Andy filling in on backups. They started playing all over southern Wisconsin and even venturing into the northern territories of their beloved state. Eventually they disbanded and moved on to play in other groups which better suited the specific tastes of each member. Grizz played guitar in the hardcore bands, Upon Desolate Hands, and Upon the Last Breath. Jake played guitar and sang in the punk bands, Death Led, Bad Apple, The Gammits MW, and Funrod. Andy joined Jake on drums in Bad Apple and later on in Funrod before that band also broke up and he was forced to start from scratch in a newly formed and un-named band where he met the notorious Patt Fink. Before this time Patt had played lead guitar in his own punk band called Plan B.
Shortly after meeting Mr. Fink, Andy, Jake, and Grizz made the decision to start playing together again. The music of this new group would be all new but the lineup would be the same. Andy's first thoughts were to quit the band he was already in but instead he decided to steal the talents of the great Patt Fink and use them for this new venture. After a few months of practicing and writing new material the four men had planned their first show and at that point needed a name. The choice of the name was easy. To their audience, it was what they would give; to them it was what they would go for; and it was what their music would always be played with. Unanimously, the name of the band was decided to be The Gusto. This name constantly reminds them to never back down and never give up when times are tough, the barrel is dry, or when the van breaks down at 4:00 AM and they have to spend the night parked alongside a busy street in Brooklyn. Their journey has been long and fruitful but it is far from over.
