STAND was formed on the streets and school yards of Dublin, Ireland in the late 90’s. No want ads, no third-party introductions, just like-minded musicians with a shared passion.
They spent the first two years together writing songs and performing continuously in clubs throughout Ireland and Europe—developing into one of the most talked about bands on the Irish scene. Their first release “Correspondent,” landed on the charts with two Top Ten songs and garnered sales of over 20,000 copies sold.
In mid-1999, having built a loyal fan base in their native Ireland, STAND played a sold-out show to 1200 fans at Vicar Street in Dublin and departed for America shortly thereafter. This band from the outskirts of Dublin took New York City, literally, one stage at a time.

Stand

“Strong, passionate and deeply melodic rock with shades of drama of the Smiths and tunefulness of Coldplay run through a decidedly guitar-heavy meat grinder.”

STAND formed on the streets and school yards of Dublin, Ireland in the late 90’s.
[They have] "more energy than a barrel of monkeys" raved Ken Gorka, owner of the legendary Bitter End (and the newish Crash Mansion,) when he first saw them play.
The band soon hit the college circuit playing 5 to 6 times a week to an increasingly fanatical audience. This website has received over 200,000 hits since its debut in January of 2003.
Between a rigorous and exhausting touring schedule, they recorded a batch of songs in various ad hoc spaces while sorting through production options. To whet the appetite of their audience, a single from one of their past recording was released.
Colm O'Hare of HotPress declared the appropriately titled Sleeping On Our Feet "a great tune...the chugging drone of the dual guitars or the faintly apocalyptic vocals reminiscent of the great Psychedelic Furs in their prime."
STAND immediately thereafter went into exile with proven veteran producer/engineer David Seitz (Jeff Buckley, Shawn Colvin, John Wesley Harding, Dar Williams) at the renowned Clubhouse Studio in upstate New York to record Transmissions.
Armed with 2 killer videos Transmissions was officially launched in January 2005, to excellent reviews. Sleeping on our Feet & Walking with Ghosts had done well in late 2004 on the Irish Charts so with that under the belt, the band spent most of the year touring the U.S. This was both extensive & exhausting.
STAND’s music was featured in the Indie movie “NINA” launched early 2006 to a string of Indie Movie Awards and good reviews.
Meanwhile the band went into the recording studio once again in January this year to start work on the next album. Currently, recording is mostly completed and the band are in talks with major league Producers and Mixers to take the new record, as yet untitled, to the next level.
A release date is penciled in for Autumn of this year with tour support to follow.
