Story Behind The Song
I was looking out through the bars of the security gate at home at night and saw the low cloud lit up by the lights of some sports stadium close by and as I said the words of the opening line I said "Hey! that sounds like a good line for a song". The song was written in about 10 minutes.
Song Description
While sipping a glass of red wine, looking back at days gone by and thinking of what might have been and wanting a chance to start over whether life would be lived the same or not.

Lyrics
Verse 1:
City lights light up the sky as I gaze between the bars,
On the highway race intoxicated cars,
Live life suburbian as I drink a glass of red,
The kids are sleeping now, stop the screaming in my head,
Bridge 1:
Out there in the world so bright with neon signs and city lights, You're running free
Chorus:
Give me back my younger days, Flashed by me in a haze, if you've been there, you'd know;
Knowledge now if I had back then, would I do it all the same again? If you've been there, you've been there.
Verse 2:
The bottle I was drinking is empty now and the neighborhood's asleep,
Don't judge me by the hours or the company I keep,
My misdirected youth is being made manifest I fear,
I wanna scream out my frustrations for the whole wide world to hear,
Bridge 2:
Here inside this house so cold, I feel I'm 91 years old, I'm trapped and bound;
Repeat chorus
Repeat Bridge 1
Repeat Chorus.
