Story Behind The Song

After reading a few song meanings, Townshend's reference to teenage wasteland referred to a self-sufficient drop-out family group farming in a remote part of Scotland decide to return south to investigate rumors of a subversive concert event that promises to shake and wake up apathetic, fearful British society. Although this was the true meaning of the song I could not help but to think of a resemblance to the present day treeless landscape and desolate living of suburban life which fuels rave culture today. A bunch of bored kids who are willing to do anything to expand their minds with the means to do it. THEY'RE ALL WASTED!....

Song Description

The song by The Who titled "Baba O'riley" also known commonly as "Teenage Wasteland" has been remixed by Volts United, and is titled "They're All Wasted". This particular song has significant meaning to us because it marked one of the first times a synthesizer was used to form the rhythm of a song. Until then, just about everyone using a synth was using it as a lead instrument. Although it is known that disco was the driving force behind the growth and popularity of dance/electronic music, we believe that it was songs like this that were involved in the conception. I (Jackson) playing synths, am particularly inspired by the monsters of the past. Classic groups that used mountains of analog keyboard gear like Pink Floyd, The Who, and Deep Purple make me feel nostalgic.
