Not Bad Guitar

Story Behind The Song

Saw a guitar player on the street in Madison, Wisconsin. And the next time I was there the guy was gone. So I came up with this "Story" and added some of My philosophy into it, cause I have something to say.

Song Description

The guy who plays on the street is gone and I find him and he's dying. He gives me his guitar as he tells me his hope is to hear God say "Not bad Guitar" like the people on the street do. So I practice and play and when my life is over I hope to hear God say "Welcome home son, Try out this New Guitar". Now the sound gets better and I'm hoping heaven is like that, I'll be able to be Flash Guitar instead of Trash Guitar. ha ha ha

Lyrics

NOT BAD GUITAR

verse 1
Ha Ha Ha
You?d see him standin? on the corner, outside the local bar
He?d walk up with that case, and pull out his old guitar
His fingers would carry the rhythm, and that old boy could play
People smile - throw money in the guitar case, and they?d say
Not bad guitar
verse 2
When he no longer came around, I went and hunted him down
I found him on his death bed, and he looked like he knew me when he said
chorus
Some days are full of sunshine, and some days are full of rain
Some days I have such joy, and the others are full of pain
But the good Lord gave me talent, to drive the blues away
And when my life is over, I just want to hear Him say
Not bad guitar
verse 3
He said won?t you take my guitar, and go out and play
I guess I should give it to you, cause I won?t need it anyway
And he smiled and he passed away
I played it till my fingers bled, and I musta? broken all the strings
But I knew it was just a matter of time, before I made that guitar sing
(music only)
chorus
Some days are full of sunshine, somedays are full of rain
Some days I have such joy, and the others are full of pain
But the good Lord gave me talent, (Lord He?s good) to drive the blues away
And when my life is over, I just want to hear him say

?Welcome on home son. Why don?t you try out this New Guitar?
(Heavenly music solo)
?Ha ha ha, not bad!?
verse 4
You?ll find me standing on the corner outside the local bar
I?ll walk up with that case and pull out my old guitar
My fingers will carry the rhythm and when you hear me play
I hope to make you smile and maybe you will say
Not bad guitar (music solo)
