Lyrics

Drove The Black Car # 3!

(VRS; 1.) Have you heard the story about the man in the car, going around the track? Have you heard the story about the man in the car, the one that drove the black? He was the man in the lead he had the need for speed, he was the one that drove that number three. Kept that pedal down Dale kept that pedal down,
(Chorus) Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down, Kept the pedal down, Dale kept that pedal down, no matter what happens in this whole wide world, there?s one thing that you need to know, that?s the best race driver that you?ve ever seen, drove that black, car number three.

(VRS; 2.) It didn?t take Dale long to get the name, intimidator of the track. Had his hand on the shifter, foot on the clutch, standing on the gas. He tried to stay in the lead to feed his need for speed, to be the best that he could be. Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down,
(Repeat Chorus)

(VRS; 3.) In nineteen years ole Dale had won, about every thing that a man could win, if you took a look in his record book, the Daytona 500 wasn?t there. It was do or die on his twentieth try. to put Daytona in his record book. Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down,

(Chorus) Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down, Kept the pedal down til he got around, and took that checkered flag. It was a long hard fight he finally got it right and now Daytona?s in his record book. And the best race driver that there ever was, drove that black car number three.
( to be read not sung)

(VRS; 4.) Three years latter on the last lap of the Daytona 500 race, the seven time Winston Cup Champion, Dale Earnhardt, crashed his car into the outside retaining wall in turn four, and lost his life, leaving his beautiful wife Teressa, his four children, his friends, his fans, and his legacy. Although Dale died that day, his memories will live on for ever, (Sing) Long live the legend Dale Earnhardt.

(Chorus) Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down, Kept the pedal down Dale kept that pedal down, No matter what happens in this whole wide world, there?s one thing that you need to know, that?s the best race driver that you?ve ever seen, drove that black car number three. I said the best race driver that there ever was, drove that black car number three, drove that black car, number three.
