Lyrics

A GIRL AND HER SOLDIER

VERSE ONE (Girl)
I'm standing here, I'm watching you fly away
To fight with your brother, God take me back to yesterday.
I feel on my hand for the sparkling stone,
My comfort, your promise that I won't be left alone.

PRE-CHORUS (Girl)
Please be safe and just come back to me
Your guardian angel, eternally

CHORUS (Girl)
And in our life after struggle, in our life after war
We'll make a home, a place of our own for a girl and her soldier

VERSE TWO (Soldier)
A long distant soldier with a heart just for two
When I look up at night I see the same moon as you
As I carefully tread across this lonely sand
Your letters, they help me keep a steady hand

PRE-CHORUS (Soldier)
I'll try to be safe so I can come back to you
My guardian angel, my rescue

CHORUS 2 (Soldier)
In our life after longing, in our life after war
We'll hit the road with this bare this load, a soldier and his girl

BRIDGE
(girl) I see your shadow but it's not enough to hold
(soldier) Seconds and hours have no meaning
(together) Our dreams are filled with fears of scars inside your/my soul
From a war that's lost our own

CHORUS 3
(together) In this life after distance, in this life after war
There's you and me, and now we're three, (girl) a hero (soldier) and his girls
(girl) There'll be memories of the fighting, and memories of the war
But the one thing to remember, I'll always love you more

SOLDIER REPEATS FIRST TWO LINES OF VERSE 2 TO FINISH
