Lyrics
The road we walk
Hey how?s it going? I guess it?s been a couple of years.
Since last we spoke alot has happened? We?ve had some fun and shed some tears?
I?d like to think that I?m exactly where I?d hoped that I would be, but looking back I guess there were some things I couldn?t have foreseen?
But all in all I can?t complain because everything turned out alright.
Well I?ve been busy; trying to keep myself afloat.
Money?s always tight? I guess that?s just the road I chose.
I guess I could?ve had it easier but I?ve got no regrets, and maybe someday I?ll go somewhere else ? but maybe not just yet?
It?s good to see you?re doing well, though?
Glad to hear that things are fine.
You know the road we walk is paved with waylaid hopes and broken dreams?
The fire of youth gets dispossessed by day-to-day routine?
Your lofty aspirations slowly fade into the past,
to be regretfully remembered as the barkeep fills your glass.
I think back now to all those times we sat around;
proud, determined and ambitious ? aspirations in the clouds?
completely confident that everything in life would gladly go our way?
And now the fire hasn?t died, but it?s been pretty dampened down;
and all of those black and white convictions finally proved themselves unsound.
It?s been tougher than we thought, but at least we had some fun along the way.
Now I can?t say that I?m unhappy; I can?t say that I am sad.
It may not be what I expected, but it really ain?t too bad?
And now this place is closing down, I guess we?ll say goodbye again;
I?m not sure when our paths will cross next, but I wish you well till then?
Here?s to hoping that the future?s holding something good in store.
