Story Behind The Song
My husband was raised Methodist, and I am Jewish. On our first holiday season as a married couple, I wrote this song for him, and we merge our celebrations each year. We enjoy and have respect for each other's traditions, and it's fun to compare childhood stories, songs and decorations. We are making memories of our own, as we share and celebrate our traditions, rejoicing in the differences rather than letting them drive us apart.
Song Description
Two people of different faiths find common ground in sharing the traditions of their respective celebrations at The Holidays, with love being the common bond between them.

Lyrics
We're driving, and it's cold out, and I do believe that's snow
The frosting on the pine trees is a shameless postcard show
The deer along the treeline makes a beeline for the wood
This is good, this is glee, me for you and you for me
You are my holiday
We're shopping, and the time flies, and we find the grocery store
Flour, sugar, butter--time to go, they've locked the door
I will peel the squash, we'll have a nosh then get to work
Such a perk, such a deal, all the love that you make real
Chorus
You are my holiday
You are my holiday
The magic spell of jingle bells, the festival of lights
And all the nights I dreamed of you
Such fancy flights--my dreams came true
You are my holiday
We're laughing, and the heat's on, and the countertop is full
The spuds and onions grated, and the cider's set to mull
A hundred baking cookies--honey, lookie, turkey's done
This is fun, this is festive, this is how I want to live
Chorus
Bridge
Help me light the candles, I will help you light the tree
We can teach each other all the songs we've known since we were three
You are wrapping, you are ribbon and a bow
You are potato pancakes, pumpkin pie and candle glow
You are my holiday
We're dozing, and it's midnight, and the fire still burns strong
It's lights out in an hour, sound asleep before too long
No matter where I am, I have my family right here
This is clear, this is fine, I am yours and you are mine
Chorus
