Song Description

Witnessing the loss of a loved one. We never think about losing someone. Usually death comes unannounced and when it does, it takes us all by surprise. In the end, we have the hope that once again we will be reunited.

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song after losing a dear friend to cancer. I watched as she literally disappeared before my eyes. It was especially difficult for me as I was battling a rare cancer at the same time.

Lyrics

you and i

i never thought this day would come, yet somehow we both knew,
i watched your life slip through
my hands,
there was nothing i could do
and as i sat in all your stillness,
i kept holding on to you,
i couldn't bare to let you go,
your journey here was through.

there's a star up in the sky, where all the answers lie, i know someday we'll meet again, you and i.

i wish i had you back again,
to have just one more day,
the memories that you left behind,
will wipe my tears away
and in the night when darkness falls, your star will light my way,
you'll always be a part of me,
tomorrow and today.

there's a star up in the sky,
that shines from way up high,
i know someday we'll meet again,
you and i

there's a star up in the sky, that shines from way up high,
i know someday we'll meet again,
you and i
you and i
