I wanted to present the song in a light that a male or female artist could consider. Julia Schmidt offered her considerable talents to this beautiful rendition of the song.
I am an organ donor recipient. I wrote this song to honor my late donor and family, for their ultimate gift , which saved my life. I have had the opportunity to get to know her son, a young man who was a senior in high school when his mom passed in 2013. If you are a registered organ donor, thank you. If not, please consider registering in your state. One organ donor can save the lives of eight people, maybe even someone you know and love. Thank you.

I can't say I ever met you
But it seems I know you well
A child of God you walked among us
You left this world with no farewell
Even in your darkest hours
You found a way to shine your light
When you drew your final breath
You started helping me find mine
You gave and now
This troubled soul can rest
I live some how
And I won't soon forget
That I got a second chance
To try and be the best I can
'Cause you gave me the gift
Yeah, you gave me the gift
I drop a pebble in a wishing well
Circles ripple to the walls
Reaching out to touch my brothers
Knowing someday I may fall
And when I stumbled you raised the bucket
No need for me to make a wish
You were always right beside me
Just in time you gave the... gift.
You're with me every step I take
As I travel life's highway
What you gave means more to me
Than words could ever say....
Very nice intro. I like the way the instrumentation builds. The instrumental arrangement is spot on. Lovely piano and acoustic guitar, backed up by a restrained but effective rhythm section. A strong, memorable melody. A top notch, nuanced vocal performance and vocal arrangement. The quality of the recording is outstanding..very professional.
