Story Behind The Song
Actually a documentation of my first trip to Exeter, and the people I encountered while wondering the streets there. I couldn't sleep at midnight even though I was jet lagged and had been up for 36 hours, so I wrote this song in my hotel room.
Song Description
Traveling in England all alone, experiencing a small English city for the first time and wandering the streets unable to sleep.

Lyrics
Exeter Town

Flew in on a plane overnight
It was a very long flight
Seems like a dream to me now
I didn't sleep all night
People don't know how to drive
I hope I get there alive
Looks like it might rain
There's dark clouds in the sky
And the rain's comin' in...
Stopped at a pub on the way
Coffee to keep me awake
Sat near the table of a girl with a birthday
On her way to a funeral
And the rain's coming in....
The rain's coming in....
Drove into Exeter town
All of the shops were closed down
There were minstrels outside of St Martin's Cathedral
I heard their sound
A song at the end of the day
Cobblestone streets and cafés
Buildings empty and needing repair
Just like all of us
And the rain's coming in...
And the rain's coming in...
I saw a girl who looked like a swan
Down the quay with her white dress on
I looked again, in the blink of an eye
She was gone
Stained glass windows under a steeple
All alone among all these people
I'm hoping and praying for something quite simple
Like peace...
...for all of us...
And the rain's coming down....
The rain's coming down....
The rain's coming down....
Down on all of us
