Story Behind The Song
I've spent many afternoons passing through or hanging out in Dupont Circle, and I wanted to paint a little musical portrait of this favorite spot.
Song Description
With an infectuous chorus and intriguingly mysterious lyrics, this song celebrates the cross-section of life which is daily witnessed in Dupont Circle, a parklike setting in which Washingtonians from bike couriers to politicians take a moment to relax and people watch. The narrator takes in this scene and interacts with its inhabitants at various times and in various states of consciousness.

Lyrics
It put some motion in my commotion
Waking up on P Street
Played like chessmen near locomotion
Wired as an athlete
The cars are rockets orbiting the happy hour cloud
I thing or two I didn?t realize I said out loud
Feeling like a criminal and hiding in the crowd
(Ah...)
Dupont Circle
Very sorry for your misfortune
Spent my change on laundry
So polite I?ll give you a portion
Something from Milwaukee
I kind of pray there?ll come a day
When we can pay our share
And take our pick in stone or brick of houses over there
I might as well be wishing for asylum in the air
(Ah...)
Dupont Circle
I?ve been rattled, say, since Seattle
Guarded as a mystery
Ayahuasca into the matter
Changed my course of history
The glass eye stare is crazier with everything I took
All I read into it is enough to fill a book
It?s not so much of what you see, it?s where you care to look
(Ah...)
Dupont Circle
