Storm in the Desert

Story Behind The Song

I was watching the coverage of the Desert Storm War and I couldn't believe we were in a war. I was watching an F-15 Eagle taking off from an aircraft carrier, at night, with the orange glow of the jet engine heading for its targets. I was saddened by the helplessness fathers crying in the streets and the mothers taking shelter with their kids.

Lyrics

Storm In The Desert
Eagles flying overhead
Engines burning orange and red
Children cry as mothers search for shelter
The streets are lonely the night is cold
See the soldier?s young and old
As they take arms to protect the city

(Chorus)
There's a storm in the desert tonight
Nowhere to run nowhere to hide
Oh Israel they've got their sights on you

Now the missiles are reigning
It?s hard to believe
Sirens sounding in Tel Aviv
Many miles away the ground troops
Wait the call
Fear can be seen on the faces
That dares helpless father stands
Fists clenched in the air
He cries to his god
Please help us now

(Chorus)

There's a storm in the desert tonight
Nowhere to run nowhere to hide
Oh Israel they've got their sights on you
There's a storm in the desert the sands on fire
News is coming over the wire
We're fighting proud red white and blue

Now they march down the streets
With signs in the air
Will you turn your back do you even care
What about the soldiers willing to die for freedom
(Sweet freedom)
Don't turn away they need us now
Find it in your heart somehow
keep em? in your prayers and welcome them
With open arms
There's a storm in the desert tonight

(Bridge)
Tears of love and anger
White sands are turning red
I remember the look on his face
And the last word my brother said

There's a storm in the desert tonight
Nowhere to run nowhere to hide
Oh Israel they've got their sights on you
There's a storm in the desert the sands on fire
News is coming over the wire
We're fighting proud red white and blue (Repeat)

We're fighting proud red white and blue

We're standing proud, America we love you
