Story Behind The Song
"How Can I Help" was written as therapautic self-preservation while my family dealt with my Mother's debilitating Chronic Migraine Headache Syndrome. At times it just became too much to see my Mother in bed, especially on holidays or when I was visiting home from school. It was hard to watch my two younger brothers (then 4 and 7) deal with raising themselves a good part of the time. So I wrote this song primarily to help myself get through such a rough time in my family's life.

Lyrics
?How Can I Help?
Home again
Up the front porch and to the door
The - the key slips in
But I?m hopin? for things to be -
To be different
Well, I look upstairs and
The bedroom door is shut
But I?m hopin? to see
To see your spirits up
(Chorus)
How can I help
Make things easier
What can I say
To make this go away
What can I do
?Cause when I look at you
All I want is to help you through it
(Bridge)
I frequently think
Things can?t stay this way
But the years go by and
I wish that you?d be you again
Well, I love you dearly and
Can?t stand to see you suffer so
And I?m not the only one
This you should know, oh
(Chorus)
How can we help
Make things easier
What can we say
To make this go away
What can we do
?Cause when we look at you
All we want is to help you through it
