Song DescriptionMan wakes up with a headache and a Shotglass In His Hand after learning his woman has "traded him in on another man." After coming to the conclusion the woman is never coming back, he chooses the only option that has worked perfectly in the past - drink another bottle of alcohol and once again wake up with a "Shotglass In His Hand."
Story Behind the SongI spent a great deal of time with a woman who made me constantly wonder if she was going to be gone when I woke up or if she was really committed to our relationship. In the end she DID leave me for another guy and yes, I drank a LOT over the breakup!
Broadjam Member Reviews
Way cool intro! This artist must be related to the Everly Brothers. LOVE love love the way the harmonies work in this love-lost song. It's a wailing lament "she traded me in for another man." Terrific country twang. The vocal is crystal clear and super fun to listen to; lyrics quite original. Great word pictures throughout (banging head on wall) and fun rhymes (eight, late, straight). This writer knows what he/she is doing for sure. Love the harmonica licks!

LYRICS
I woke this morning with a Shotglass In My Hand
I have never been a drinking man
That woman she will never understand
Why I woke this morning and I didn't care at all
I had to do something waiting for your call
So I Opened up a bottle, sat down and drank it all
She didn't come home
Didn't even bother to call
I was staring out the back door
Banging my head into the wall
That's why I woke this morning with a Shotglass In My Hand
My woman traded me in on another man
Why I woke this morning with a Shotglass In My Hand
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh -
When I looked at my watch it was half past the hour of 8
I said hey woman you're several hours late
When you're telling me about it
You better have your story straight
That's why I woke tup with a Shotglass In My Hand
My woman traded me in on another man
Why I woke this morning with a Shotglass In My Hand
Said No - why'd you do me that way
Shotglass in My Hand - repeats
