Song Description
I wrote this song to be an inspiration to young musicians to go for your dreams. The short of the story is the song is about a young girl sitting next to her grandma listening to songs as she grows up. Her grandmother told her she always wanted to be a country singer but responsibilities and work took away her dream. The main line and one of my favorite lyrics is "Playing Grandma's Radio - One day it will play me".
This song was really a labor of love to record. Each individual guitar part in the clean parts was broken down into single note parts and recorded one at a time to get a unique sound. The 'pedal steel' guitar parts were done on a JP6 guitar using the whammy bar to simulate a pedal steel and post effects with heavy 6.7 second reverbs. There are even 3 bass tracks per section! Overall over 100 total tracks in small parts were layered to create the song - and this is just the demo version! Hope you enjoy!

[Verse 1]
She kept that radio by her rocking chair
Tuned to classic country gold
She'd say the new songs just don't compare
To the stories that were told
[Chorus]
Playing grandma's radio
(Grandma's radio)
The past would come alive
She would dream to be a star but stayed out here to work the farm
Playing grandma's radio
Someday it will play me
[Verse 2]
Sitting by her feet for hours
Singing all her favorite tunes
She always told me music's power
Could have made her dream come true
[Chorus]
Playing grandma's radio
(Grandma's radio)
The past would come alive
She would dream to be a star but stayed out here to work the farm
Playing grandma's radio
Someday it will play me
(Someday it will play me)
[Bridge]
She'd say there's so much more than a melody
That our adventures live in song
They tell us all of life's recipes
That are waiting to be, waiting to be found
[Verse 3]
Now I've written all of my own songs
The melodies that she taught me well
I'll find my way and I will make her proud
All her stories I will tell (I will tell)
[Chorus]
Playing grandma's radio
Grandma's radio
The past would come alive (come alive)
She would dream to be a star but stayed out here to work the farm
Playing grandma's radio
Someday it will play me
(Someday it will play me)
Someday it will play me
