Story Behind The Song
I grew up abroad in Thailand, Kenya, Egypt, Belgium, U.S, etc.....and never really established a home base. I wrote the song after I moved to California when I was 25 and finally feeling ready to "find a home".
Song Description
Chained to Change is a coming of age song about learning to settle down and be in one place, to not take the place and people we're with in each moment for granted.

Lyrics
Grace
Coming in and crashing like a wave
Washing in only to slip away
And all I've ever really known is change
But if...
I could take this moment and make it rich
Doesn't matter where or who I'm with
As long as I'm not feeling myself itch
And it wears me down
But it makes me stronger
When I hit the ground
I've gotta believe again
I could catch a plane and fly away
Sell my car and begin again
But would that make things better
Or would I just be running away
Chained to change
Undone
Feeling like that's what my life's become
Just another evening's setting sun
Diminishing although it's just begun
And it wears me down
But it makes me stronger
When I hit the ground
I've gotta believe again
I could catch a plane and fly away
Sell my car and begin again
But would that make things better
Or would I just be running away...
And my heart is skewered up on the fence
As I'm trying and struggling just to make some sense
Is the grass really that much greener?
Or am I just running away?
Chained to change
I was chained to change
To change
I could catch a plane and fly away
Sell my car and begin again
But would that make things better
Or would I just be running away
Chained to Change
