Lyrics
Verse 1:
I?ve been working on a Screenplay,
about a guy who looks a lot like me.
He has a wife who can?t decide between a baby
and the desire to be free.
He has a house that?s worth a million
and each month, he writes the check.
He has a job where he?s a leader,
but it?s himself he can?t respect.
Chorus 1:
Does living the dream mean selling out?
Mister can you tell me what it?s all about?
Do we need the seed to feed the greed? IT?S MINE!
Must we bleed the steed to free the deed? WE?RE BLIND!
Verse 2:
He sees a doctor,
to help him collect his thoughts.
He talks about his feelings
and how he tries to be the man he?s not.
He?s got a Dragon in the closet
and it?s dying to break free.
He?s looking because he?s lost it-
exactly who he?s supposed to be.
Chorus 2:
And he believes in an everlasting life-
a chance to be free of all this pain and strife.
Though he eyes the sky, should he try to fly away?
Should he buy the pie, not question why and stay?
Bridge:
Whatever happened to that life of ease,
where every one of us has all he needs?
(Repeat)
Repeat Chorus 1&2
Though by and by, well we all must die, and then,
will we have to try and live the lie again?
It?s an existential movie, this life we live upon the screen,
and we?ve got to look our best, for all of those love scenes-
and all the covers of the magazines.
