Lyrics
GAMBLER'S GRAVE
In the darkness
There hides a gambler
Holy Bible in his hand
Beyond the mountain he did leave her
In the bed of another man
And a cry comes from the burning cabin
The woman screams aloud the name
Of a man who stole her Bible
And cursed his soul to the gambler's grave
In the pale blue mountain darkness
Upon an old and tired steed
Rides the gambler with the stolen Bible
And a gun strapped to his knee
He gazes high above the starlight
And prays aloud in fear and shame
For the echoes of the darkness
Here comes the sound of the gambler's grave
In the fire of the sunrise
The other man in anger hides
He sees the gambler in the distance riding
He brings his rifle to his eyes
And the gambler and the Bible
Fell to earth in blood and clay
And he laughed as he lie dying
Heading to the gambler's grave
And so the man
Stood above the gambler
He cursed the ground and watched him bleed
And from the Bible he took back the picture
And he called to God and fell to his knees
For with my wife this man did gamble
And my heart to him she gave
And then he cursed her fading picture
And he buried both in the gambler's grave
