Like You Do

Story Behind The Song

I had this sort of call and response idea in my head for awhile after I came out of class when I attended school in Chicago. We talked about the complex of cowardice and it related to me. I feel constantly surrounded by people who are more concerned with being better than everyone else than just being equal.

Song Description

This song talks about feeling anger and resentment towards people who use power as a way to cover up their insecurities. It's a statement on the difficulties of growing up around people who constantly compared me to others to make themselves feel better. From relationships to family, I've dealt with so many people who think they're so important when in reality, they're just a regular person like you or I. But instead of seeing it that way, they grab any little thing they have- money, power, looks etc. to make up for it. It's kind of a fucked up concept.

Lyrics

I've never been one to pick a fight.
But i've always been one who comes off frank.
I've never been one who likes to lie.
Like you do.

You, you're such a coward.
You're so insignificant.
You, you're so delusional.
And I hope that you cry.

You've always been one to have a heart of stone.
And I've always been one who couldn't break it apart.
I've never been one who likes to manipulate.
Like you do.

You, you're such a coward.
You're so insignificant.
You, you're so delusional.
And I hope that you cry.
