Story Behind The Song
I was in Golden Gate Park and feeling blue because my relationship was breaking up and I was getting a divorce. I was looking at the rose garden and saw a brandy rose and noticed how beautiful it was. My neice's name is Brandy and I knew that my divorce meant that I could also loose my neice Brandy. So I wrote a song about how time goes by and a relationship grows. Then as conflict occurs it begins to kill the relationship. In the end I had hope that the relationship would grow like a brandy rose. It brings tears to my eyes just writing the story behind my song.
Song Description
The style of the song is doo-op, 3/4 time. Because doo-op is often about relationships and broken hearts, this style inspired me to write my song about my broken heart.
I use an occasional minor chord piano tickle to emphasize the sad feeling.
My ending vocal repeats an emotional outcry of my optimism that the relationship will work.

Lyrics
So much time may go by,
Before a heart finally blooms
As roses will do.
Pleasantly a delight,
The fragrance of brandy,
Brandy rose, oh oh oh
Brandy rose.
So, so much conflict,
It?s killing the love
We can share.
If we can just work it out,
I?m sure that our love
Would grow like a brandy rose.
Just like a brandy rose.
