Story Behind The Song
This is about the space in between the land and the sea, as I was walking on the beached in CA I have always been struck by how compelling it is be be at the waters edge or at the lands edge. Just in between worlds is a seperate world different from both, were each draws the line of it's doaman, neither giving an inch without protest.. then feeling this was in a relationship, just this way like walking on the beach, on the battle line of your and mine, stagnant because of the differences, and yet very compelled because of the differences, watching the feelings get slowly washed away...needing to let it go and disapperar into the sea but still in the space in between, the beach
Song Description
the beach is the space in between the land and the sea, and feeling that way in a relationship just stuck in between being together and being apart, yet feeling very compelled to stay in this place, just as the whales will swim up, yearning unexplained...

Lyrics
beached
It's hard to find comfort in your arms these days
The passion has turned into fear
I'm straining my eyes here as hard as I might
I can't seem to find my way clear
Surely you knew love that this day would come
When all of our issues would rise
We'd find ourselves walking this foggy grey dream
Not the land, not the sea, but in between
And oh, onward we go
Oh, oh to where nobody knows
Oh, love that was once etched in stone
The tide slowly washed away
Can you recall when we shifted our paths
From friends to lovers we leaped
Not knowing the ways of the waters or cliffs
We wound up here roaming the beach
Surely you knew love, that this day would come
When all of our kid fears aligned
We'd find ourselves walking this foggy grey dream
Not the land not the sea but in between
And oh, onward we go
Oh, oh to where nobody knows
Oh, what was once etched in stone
The tide slowly washed away
Great whales come in here and die in this place
Their yearning for land unexplained
And if they are turned back they swim up again
Confused but resigned in it's grain
Surely they knew when their bodies hit firm
They'd entered a perilous place
But they hear the call of this beckoning scene
Not the land, not the sea but in between
And oh, onward we go
Oh, oh to where nobody knows
Oh, love that was once etched in stone
The tide slowly washed away
It's all washed away, It's all washed away
