Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after a break up with my partner. I had asked him if we could take a break to see where we wanted to go in life, he had already met a 20 year old girl who had stolen his heart. I was unaware of this. 6 months later , he was diagnosed with a rare disease that meant he only had 2 years to live, so I guess I was filled with regret and grief. I hated him, felt sorry for him and loved him all at the same time. I spent a good few months longing to reach out to him but my ego and pride got in the way. Eventually I did. He had his treatment, myself and his friends got together to organise fundraising for a heart transplant for him. Unfortunately he got cancer before he could have the transplant. We remained great friends until his passing. He worked on the arrangement of these songs and he managed to tour with my band for a while. We never managed to go back to what we were before, but we actually went some where different, better maybe ,a relationship without ego, there was nothing to prove anymore just being.

Lyrics
MAYBE ... Lyrics and music by Martina Flaherty
1st VERSE
The minute you walk into
the trap that you set for you
everything gets twisted like a coil
your brain signals you to hear
the things that you've always feared
and consequences arn't always clear
PRE-CHORUS
But never a day goes by
that you want to feel that high
CHORUS
How vain how insane we are
when we take things much too far
I could be madder but I try much harderto show that all is so
I could cry like a baby
hoping for maybe
2nd VERSE
When there is no going back
no system you can attack
all that you can do is believe
You've put it to every test
Maybe maybe its for the best
I guess its safe to say you'' never know-how
REPEAT PRE-CHORUS & CHORUS
