Story Behind The Song
In a band rehearsal, we were joking about how the Red Hot Chili Peppers keep writing songs about California and couldn't possibly write another one. So someone said,'Please, not another song about California.' And so we wrote one of our own.
Song Description
This is a pop rock song with a four on the floor beat and a very Summer feelgood feel to it about a New Yorker dreaming about California and how he wrestles with the fantasy vs. the reality of California. In the end he's happy to call NYC his home but he can't help but wonder about life out there.

Lyrics
i don't want to hear another song about your California
California girls never did have much to say to me
i got nothin' bad to say about your California,
but my baby's here in NYC
she don't like to go outside she said, It' cold out there. don't leave me all alone.
baby we can stay inside and make love, til summer comes.
i remember dreamin all about your California
endless summer sounded something like heaven to me
makin' love on the beach under the moonlight be a big star in the movies, maybe just surf my life away
but here on the streets of New York it gets so cold outside it breaks you down she says,
baby won't you come inside and make love, 'til summer comes. now baby don't that sound like fun
Bridge
how does it feel to know you finally found yourself a home? hold me now, show me how i'm never far away from home
home is where you know somebody's got your back
they will stand up beside you when this world means you harm
a California dreamer livin' for the city with an angel to guide me and lay down beside me
she don't like to go outside she said, it's cold out there. don't leave me all alone.
baby won't you come inside and make love, 'til summer comes. now forget all about California baby i might just keep you indoors with me right here, all year
how does it feel to know you finally found yourself a home?
