Song Description

This is a song about relationships.

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this one night about a girl I was head over heels for. She had a boyfriend who treated her terribly but she would not leave him. I never let her know how I felt.

Lyrics

AT ARMS LENGTH
Lyrics and Music by Mike Lickiss
© 2005

Verse 1 There you stand at arms length
A brilliant golden ring
Terrified of the touch
Afraid of everything

Verse 2 Cry your eyes, heal your heart
As tears fall like rain
Now finally you can see
Not another foolish game

Chorus Now I ask, do you see?
Am I dreaming of what will never be?
Now I ask, with shaking knees
Could it be that this was meant for me?

Verse 3 Spent many a night,
Watching with red-rimmed eyes
The agony and delight,
Found in another?s crime
Safety draws in like a net,
Those content to be
Following in line,
Marching on to the beat

Chorus Now I ask, do you see?
Am I dreaming of what will never be?
Now I ask, with shaking knees
Could it be that this was meant for me?

Bridge Now I plead and I beg,
Can you please show me the way?
Hold me close, hold me so,
I can feel my soul letting go Hide for so long, bury so deep,
Something I?ve tried not to see
What it is controlling me,
What it is controlling me

Verse 4 There you stand
At arms length
A brilliant golden ring
Hear me call your name
