Lyrics

BANDON BY THE SEA by Linda Storey

Grew up near the mountains in Colorado, playing and singing, writing and dreaming.
Fell in love and lost, hurt my soul so I took off for the coast out of Colorado.
I put my dog in the backseat a guitar and suitcase singing, "Wish I had a river I could skate away on".
All the way through the mountains, cross the plains, up to Portland, down the coast
to the little town I love the most.

CHORUS
Bandon by the Sea, thanks for waiting here for me
a little piece of Heaven that God intended for me
down here by the sea.

With my heart in my hand, I went to the ocean. Sat there for hours filled with emotion
talked to the sea as if he knew me. It's power and it's roar seemed to comfort me.
I sat on the rocks, played my guitar, wrote a new song about love gone wrong.
Left all my troubles there on the sand. I knew a new life was in my hands.

CHORUS

I stayed a few years, found new friends and laughter. Worked in the art shop sang in the bars.
Lived in a small house there by the river, the seals and the tugboats were my front yard.
There's something about the sound of the waves, smell of the tides, wind in my hair,
boats on the river, gulls in the sky, at night the foghorn sings its lullaby.

CHORUS

Many years have come and gone since I left that tourist town.
I came back here with my family so they could see this part of me.

Outside my window there's a chatty seagull as if he knew that I'd been gone.
Where have you been these 27 years, trying to write a new song?
I left the coast to join a band, playing bass guitar in a rock roll band.
Stayed out on the road for quite awhile until hard times took away my smile.
