Song Description

A lonely loading dock boss meets the love of his life. Her name is "Peanut" she weighs 300 lbs. and she is a truck driver.

Story Behind the Song

I used to work on a loading dock with a dispatcher who was incredibly flatulent....

Lyrics

Shippin' Dock Joe

This is the story of Shippin' Dock Joe and something that happened not long ago
How a lonely man met his fate the love of his life
Now we'd known Joe for 15 years and we all had good reason to fear
That the man would never find himself a wife
In most ways he was regular guy, his heart was as big as the sky
But there are somethings in life you just can't undo
See Joe was famous around these parts, he had a brown belt in the flatulent arts
And it was rumored he could whistle Dixie if he'd a mind to

Shippin' Dock Joe, Shippin' Dock Joe
Knows where all the trailers go and where they all come from
If you've got a load to go, old Joe is the one
He is the one

Joe called me in one afternoon and said I got a special load for you
You just got time to get it out by four
There's a 24 PUP in door 32, its 1950 on an 18 cube
And every last case has gotta go on
It won't be easy but give it a shot you're the best packer that I've got
When you're done I'll buy you and your picker a beer
Well we packed that trailer as high and tight as my old man on Saturday night
When we was done we needed Joe to help seal the door

Well the driver came to make the pull in a white Peterbuilt that had "Peanut's Jewel"
Emblazoned in gold leaf on the driver's door
She waved to Joe the dispatch man I could tell just by lookin' at her hands
There was a lot more to Peanut than met the eye
Joe felt the earth move when she touched down cause Peanut weighed 300 pounds
And he grinned when she broke wind like a sewer pipe
Old Joe couldn't stand no more, he picked his jaw up off the floor
And said, "Baby where ya been all my life?"

I'm Shippin' Dock Joe, Shippin' Dock Joe
I know where all the trailers go and where they all come from
If you've got a load to go, old Joe is the one
Baby I'm the one

We could see the feeling was mutual and if Joe wasn't too much of a fool
He might just get lucky after all
They got married two weeks later the reception was a wild tailgater
down at the truckstop on 95
Who knows what happened after dark, under the lights in that pickle park
all they found later was a crater in the ground
The theory goes some like this, after consummation of their bliss
Joe lit a smoke and boy that's all she wrote

Shippin' Dock Joe, Shippin' Dock Joe
Knows where all the trailers go and where they all come from
If you've got a load to go, old Joe is the one
He is the one
