Mechanical Bull

Story Behind The Song

When I was playing a gig in Memphis, the bar decieded to include a Mechanical Bull for the entertainment that night. I decided to watch the riders as the Bull was taking all the attention. A woman came up to me and tryed to sway me into riding the bull. This was not going to happen ~ she decided to show me how "easy" it was to 'ride the bull'.

Lyrics

MECHANICAL BULL
Words and music by Ken Morse (1982)

On a bar stool in Tennessee

I chanced to meet a mechanical bull riding cowgirl on a Saturday night

She had gaps where her teeth once were

the bull would get the best of her

She seemed almost crazy in the neon bar light

She said:

Common guitar picker I?ll show you how to ride

I come here most every night gripping any bull?s hide

Just throw your leg over for the ride of your life

You won?t be the same man again

The lady with the whiskey breath seemed might fall to her death

as she hollered to no one ?crank her on up to ten?
C
That bull started bucking like a mustang on a stormy night

She held on like a wildcat and the bull she did ride

She said:

Common guitar picker I?ll show you how to ride

I come here most every night gripping any bull?s hide

Just throw your leg over for the ride of your life

You won?t be the same man again

She said:

Common guitar picker I?ll show you how to ride

I come here most every night gripping any bull?s hide

Just throw your leg over for the ride of your life

You won?t be the same man again
