The Long Ride

Story Behind The Song

I wrote the first few lines of this song and then got stuck for a year and a half. Everything I tried didn't work. Then one night after a nice dinner with my wife and a really good friend I sat down at the piano and the rest of the song came in 5 minutes.

Song Description

I have been told this would be a great wedding song. It is about a long term relationship with my wife. She is always there for me.

Lyrics

The Long Ride written by Keith Taylor and Bruce Taylor

You know how to move me
You know what I like
You know what keeps me going
At the end of the night

And when I'm tired
You hold out your hand
Wrap your arms around me
Make me understand

That I couldn't live a single day without you
Wouldn't last a moment if I tried
And if our life together is a journey
You can count me in for the long ride

You know what I'm thinking
Most of the time
You see right through me
When you read my mind

And when I've fallen
You're there when I land
You help me up again
Make me understand

That I couldn't live a single day without you
Wouldn't last a moment if I tried
And if our life together is a journey
You can count me in for the long ride

And it's a journey we'll take together
And we can do it side by side
There's no turning back
I think you know it
Cause we're into it for the long ride

I couldn't live a single day without you
Wouldn't last a moment if I tried
And if our life together is a journey
You can count me in for the long ride
You can count me in for the long ride

Solid song and great performance by the vocalist. The song sounds very professionally done on all aspects, instrumentation, recording and arrangement. I would certainly like to hear more from this songwriter.

It was an excellent song. Well constructed and flowed well. The instrumentals and vocals were again excellent.

Like the clarity of the recording and the vocalist has the country sound that fits this tune. Simple but easy to remember hook.

Nice sounding song. I really enjoyed listening to this. There is something about just a vocal and Acoustic Guitar on a Country song. The instrumentation and vocals worked very well. The song told a story, which is what Country music is all about. Nicely done.

Very nice love song. This would be great for weddings, anniversaries etc. A full band arrangement would be great for radio, but the acoustic version is nice for wedding ceremonies. Simple and sweet, well done.

Nice start to the track, good presence. Vocal is floating nicely above the track. Clear and nice tone. (though, there are a few times it's a bit too high in the mix) Good theme that's well executed. Easy to get right into the lyrics and theme. Hook is reinforced a number of times.

Love the song! Love the lyrics and the melody. Leans itself nicely to be either a contemporary country or a traditional country song depending on the arrangement. Would make a great soundtrack song for a movie or a stand alone song on an album. I can hear Keith Urban doing this song or even Tim McGraw. Really enjoyed this song. Keep on writing!

Love the guitar and vocals. Great song...I would say it has hit potential.

Really great vocals!

Very nice performance and a good solid recording. Romantic as hell...this could be a wedding song and God knows we need more to choose from. The singer seems totally engaged...believable...like it's not some hired gun but the guy who wrote the song. All in all a good listen.

I love the simple guitar melody with your heartfelt vocals. You have good control over your voice, there were no pitchy spots. I loved this song. You performed it very well and the lyrics were heartfelt and meaningful. Good job with it, I could here it on country radio.

Unbelievable hook and verses to match. Makes me want to sing the song very catchy

In tune vocal, harmonies pretty tight
Production quite good
The song itself, while not exciting me particularly, ticks some of the standard Nashville boxes, ie, length is good, arrangement is there
Well done

In my opinion,
vocals had good tone and pitch. Great quality of emotion.
The song has mainstream marketing.
Verse, prechorus, and bridge melodies are strong.

Nice lead vocal and harmonies. Well-maintained rhyme scheme. Professionally performed instrumentation. Good arrangement. Good quality recording. Nice melody.
