Song Description

This song is about those many hours of peace and calm I have received in the summer. Actually, I do not like the oppressive heat of summer but this song reflects on the change of pace which can be so beneficial during the summer. It also shows the changes - there is a lot of variety of weather during the summer - sun and rain - and both can be wonderful. And love often grows during this time. The instruments depicts the variety of this season - the singing of the classical violin juxtaposed against the strong sounds of the electric guitar.

Story Behind the Song

I have always loved the song - "Summertime". We have a summer place charming but rustic which has been in the family for 60 years. The flood plain it is located on is going to be turned into a park for the community. This song is in memory of that place

Broadjam Member Reviews

Excellent instrumentation, vocal harmonies, and lyrics!! An interesting sequence of traditional, yet unpredictable chords as well!

Nice tone and love that it sounds recorded live, which sets it apart from others I've heard. Love the guitar solo!

Title: I Love Summertime Composer: Kathy Myers
Verse 1
I love summer days when the air is so still and winter seems so far away
Greens all around
New life can be found
If we open our eyes
And we see with surprise
What the world has in store
I love summer days with a soft summer breeze
The memories of snow fading fast.
The birds sing their song
The days are so long
As we sit by the stream
That's the time I can dream
As the pace of life slows down
Chorus
I love summertime; hazy summer days; lazy summer nights; I love summertime
Verse 2
I love summer days; the drone of the bees
There seem to be no cares at all
Life can move fast
Yesterday's past
And tomorrow we'll find
There's a new peace of mind
If we take time to relax

Song: I Love Summertime (pg 2) Composer: Kathy Myers

I love summer days after the rain. A rainbow brightens the sky.
The heat of the day
Will soon go away
And the cool of the night
Brings so much delight
As we laugh and celebrate
Chorus
Verse 3
I love summer nights when the sky is so clear you gaze and see millions of stars.
Dark clouds roll in
The storm will begin.
Loud thunder brings fear
Saying lightning is near
As we watch nature's display.
I love summer nights as the world goes to sleep; the moon reflects on the sea.
Walks on the sand.
Lovers join hands.
We don't want to miss
New love's first kiss
As two souls become one
Chorus plus expansion
I love summertime - those hazy days - I love summertime - summertime
